Family Kickstarts Documentary Andy Warhol -

Andy Warhol's nieces and nephews are kickstart a documentary about their uncle Andy. The family has a unique perspective on the history of Warhol's ascension to his Pittsburgh roots to dominate the art scene in New York.


older brother Paul, who ran the dump of the family, fed early interest in Andy images and photography in newspapers. When I drew Paul there about 10 years, he said, "I'm Andy began. We put the wax on the funny papers and rubbed over with a spoon. I gave him his first camera. We dug the basement and put in a red light [for a photo darkroom]. "



producers The docu, Abby Warhola and best Jesse, filmed extensive interviews of Paul Warhola before his death in 2014, and they interviewed the son of Paul Marty and George who continue to work in the sector scrap and recycling.


mother Andy Julia immigrated from Slovakia and brought with her former country Rusyn traditions for lettering and ornamentation that the family still carries on. an ostrich egg, decorated in the style Pysansky by Madalen Warhola, will be one of Kickstarter rewards.


nephew Andy James Warhola is himself a talented painter who illustrated for MAD magazine. He written and illustrated children's book based on his memories of visiting New York home of their famous uncle.


James would try on wigs, and sometimes Andy would ask him to help with some of the paintings. Remarqued and signed copies of the book of James will be among the rewards.

They hope to reach their goal by April 2.
