There are many versions, but mine is slices of round, crusty French bread (leaven the pain) topped with our cheese, béchamel thyme homemade (left above our soufflé cheese recipe video), covered with ham, tomato and cheese, and golden brown and cooked through. How do you say "die" in French? I won this version of a French bakery here in San Francisco called Tartine, which has lines of people out the door waiting for these beauties out of the oven.
