We use our whiteboard into our preschool classroom to help develop fine motor skills in a variety of ways. This week, I decided to add some Do-a-point to our large dry erase board board...

We provide many opportunities to enhance the development of fine motor skills, working on the prerequisite skills to writing, from our 2 year old class. Two years begin to draw lines and circles, imitating what they see in print.


We having a large erase board that covers our writing table. Because of its size, preschool children can use their whole arm, working shoulder stability. (For more information on activities that promote the development of the hand, you may want to read this page Fine Motor 101.)

I used Do-a-Dots in many different activities, but never on a dry erase board. I liked the way preschool children had to push really get the liquid to move on board.



I added some dry erase markers as well. Many circular motions were used involving the entire arm. Children 3 years added more details. Because this card is large enough for several friends to work together, there was a lot of collaboration will on.

The 3 years have made over the stencil of our writing cart. They shared stories of what their illustrations for.

Dry delete cards come in many sizes and can be used either vertically or horizontally on a wall or an easel. You can help your children develop their fine motor skills using these whiteboards in the classroom, at home or away.
