Part 5 / Pteranodon Offspring Finish

Part 5 / Pteranodon Offspring Finish -
(Continuing the series Pteranodon) Here are the final table of the young Pteranodon, incorporating corrections Dr. Bennett.
The pterosaur egg has hatched a soft shell, and resting on a bed of crushed ferns. The painting is in oil, using only paint and above all transparent. Oil remained wet enough for a superficial treatment of focusing distance, something that often appears in photos of wildlife.

Since Ranger Rick is primarily a photo magazine, I deliberately used photographic effects (even though I had no picture to look for reference) because I wanted the art to blend with the rest of the magazine.

When we crossed the Washington, DC last few weeks, we stopped by the National Wildlife seat Federation to pick up the paint and show publishers "Pterry" the Pteranodon model I used for reference.

We shared the painting and artwork at some art schools we visited on our recent tour of South is including SCAD Atlanta (photo by Rick Lovell).

I will make the reports of the various art schools in future blog posts.
