Preschool Classroom Setting - Our first Day -

After weeks of planning and preparation, the first day is here! During the configuration of the room, we keep a little simpler at first. We will add more material as presented in the coming weeks.

In September, we present the red color and shape is the circle. We believe all of our senses that we choose our toys and materials.

Here is what we put on our first day preschool:

Sensory Table:

Pom Poms, Cups and Tweezers

Pom poms are soft and easy to move with the tweezers. We added color tape to each cup as another way to sort pom poms.

Manipulatives:

Wood Ring Stacking puzzles and activity

We like using solid, chunky wooden puzzles! Ones with plugs work those little fingers learn to grasp and markers crayons.

Play Dough:

Circle Cookie Cutters and Rolling Pins

Play dough can be very soothing for a child who may be a difficult time separate from the parents. It is also a fun way to bring a group of children together, work together sharing tools.

Science:

Sea Shells, magnifiers and Ocean Books

Many of our children visited the beach during the summer, so that shells were familiar to them. This display has encouraged the children to talk about their visits to the beach with family and friends.

Fine Motor:

Chunky Crayons

Having a sheet of paper on the table creates a community project, with our new friends get to know each other.

Light Table:

Circle Nesting Cups and Caps Ring

Our light table is tucked away in a dark corner so that the colors on the table become vibrant. It is ideal for 1, 2 or 3 friends!

Easel:

We can easily transform this bridge around the other side which has a clip for holding paper when we are ready to paint.

Block Area:

Wood Blocks, wooden Arches, Construction Vehicles, Rocks, trucks Books, Train (not shown)

We like to acquaint pieces in our block area during those first days. The trains are always a huge success, as well as construction vehicles. We like to add books to different parts of the room in addition to the corner of the book. It invites children to stop and look more books often.

Writing Corner:

Paper and Markers

Eventually we will add other materials such as stamps, stickers and stencils.

Art Table:

Stamping Red circles Paint

Again, we chose this to be a group activity, encouraging children to work together.

Dramatics Corner:

"Our House "

We make sure you have the dolls, dishes, play food, and a few pieces of DRESS- up in our area of the house to create the comfort of a real home.

We will not make much of changes for a while, that the children become more familiar with our classroom and the morning routine. ultimately, as we believe they are ready, we will change some of our materials, adding more choices.
