One of the sweetest gifts our children make to mother's Day are necklaces. We tuck in painted boxes on hand tied with a bow and decorated with a heart gift tag. They are then given to moms Day Tea Mother.

Materials Occasion:
- Air-Dry White Clay
- assorted beads
- lacing Yarn
- Small Circle Cookie Cutter
- spray Varnish

The process:
After reading a few books on mothers, we created our table art with clay and beads. Note to teachers: I found it very helpful to have the names of the children written on the tape in advance. When the clay pieces are placed on the board to dry, we urge pieces of tape marked off them.

Place a small amount of clay on a flat surface and invite the children to run on flat.

We took a small circle cookie cutter and pressed into the clay.

Beads were then pressed into the clay.

Make Make sure you create a hole somewhere to the wire thread through! (We use a pencil tip.)

Allow dried in the air. Then spray with varnish to give them shine.

Once dry, the thread can be laced through the hole.

We gift boxes were painted with watercolors for placing necklaces. (We have used these boxes.)

We set the box with ribbon and some heart tag.

The week before Mother's Day, we invite our moms to join us for some songs of the last 15 minutes of our morning. We call this "Muffins for Mama." (You can read about it here.) Meanwhile, we their muffins give their children did, and they open their gifts. I just love to see the children's faces that their moms are leading the boxes!
