There, AOS still live or Photoshop?

There, AOS still live or Photoshop? - (Until 9:00 p.m. Eastern time) to enter yesterday, AOS caption contest.

Meanwhile, Jason Peck blog reader sent me this picture with the question:

This is a fairly clear picture, but I can not really to understand exactly what I look at. I know it, AOS an illusion, but I can, AOT understand how it works. Something tells me his Photoshopped, but I could be wrong. What do you think?

Let me turn the question to you first. At 18:00 Eastern time I Äôll post the answer I came up with.

I can hardly add to insightful explanations in the comments, explaining that it is a real object. I agree, and this is what I said to Jason:
The three dimensional illusions exist as real objects, and I think it is real. They are not visible at an angle. In this case, the horizontal member coming through the medium is in fact in front of the vertical bar to the right hand, but it is bevelled so as to look as it is hidden behind.

The gift is the shadow from the central horizontal bar. It moves diagonally down the figure, then through the grid floor and stop just to the left of the watch, proof that the horizontal leg is detached.

Blog reader Jay Meinhardt actually created the figure in the CAD program. It's awesome. Thank you, Jay, and thank you all for your great explanations.
