therefore, as many of you already know, I like the dual-POV stories. Playing multiple perspectives for me is fascinating when done correctly, and write it just never gets boring.

Write stories dual POV, however, can be a bit difficult, especially if you have not done before. Before you begin, you will want to make sure to have multiple points of view is the right choice for your WIP (quick way to determine is whether you need over a POV to tell your story. If you do not, then stick with a POV). Even after you decide it is the right option, several POVs can be difficult to manage, and I would like to share five tips to make your life a little easier teensie:

  1. Make sure that the voices are distinct. This can be a killer if you do not get it right. Throughout the novel multi-POV, you should be able to return to a page at random, read a few sentences, and know which character is speaking. If you find yourself playing and having to check back to the beginning of the chapter to see whose word, then it is usually a sign that your loud voices are not sufficiently distinct. Which leads me to the next point ...

  2. Really get to know your characters. This is the number one way to get two distinct interesting voices you need to know your characters inside and outside. The level of education, slang, language choice, how their backgrounds influence their outlook, temperament and values all play into perspective, and you need to know about each of these elements and how they affect your The voice of nature .

Even the description varies in opinion POV-what character, pay attention to, and what they think of their environment will all vary according to their individual perspectives. (More on that here ).

  3. Pick up where the other character has left. I will not say I never saw a flashback format as successful as we went through the same event (or parts of the same event) from several characters I prospects and it can only work if the outlook is vastly different . But mostly, multi-POV method more effective than I've seen involves a character pick up where the other left.

The reason why it works so well is because it avoids redundancy, if two characters are in relatively similar situations, then we really need to see both of them having lunch together two After each perspective. Picking up where the previous character POV was interrupted, you keep moving story without giving readers a feeling of deja vu massif.

  4. Carefully consider why you choose a POV for a particular scene. Dual-POV stories often alternate back and forth with each chapter, but it does not have to. The most important thing to consider when plotting your dual-POV book, is why you choose that particular POV for that particular scene.

In general, we want to be in POV POV is most affected by the events taking place in this scene. For example, if a character home catches fire, we want to be in the POV character in the home, experience the fire, not the neighbor walking in the street outside. If a person is arrested, we want the POV of the arrested person, not the friend look behind the scenes, etc.

Sometimes it can be a little tricky because both characters are affected by the events unfolding. When this happens, you'll want to think about who is most affected, and if that is equal then consider that POV would be most interesting.

  5. Read books with several POVs. Needless to say, but before you even start to think about writing a novel multi-POV, you'll want to pick up some books with several POVs to see how it's done. Some of my favorite multi-POV novels include Across the Universe series by Beth Revis The 5th wave by Rick Yancey and Faking It by Cora Carmack . I also recommend Every day by David Levithan , which lacks several POVs but POV in several organizations, which highlights many really point interesting about the prospect.

So those are my tips now dual-POV I want to hear you Have you seen works (or certainly does not) in effect double POV stories
