| Behind the VW dealer gouaches, 5 x 8 inches |
J ' have 45 minutes and two tubes of gouache, black and white. it's OK, because I'm in a film noir mood today. I'm walking on the edge of the parking lot of a supermarket and there's a white van parked behind the VW dealer. I like the way it is halfway into the light.
During the dry seed, I draw guidelines in perspective with a watercolor pencil. The "acryla" of gouaches acryla seals the surface against the later wet coats regular gouache, so the yolk will not pick up with what comes next.
I interpret the scene as a statement "Almost-Notan" I mean two families of tone. "Very-dark-more-black" for what is in the darkness, and very light-plus-white "when it is in full sun
[
I can afford a little definition within each of these principalities, but i want to avoid the midtones. There should be a deep valley in the middle of Histogramland.
Jeanette finished shopping. I must conclude. I use black watercolor pencil to the son.
I'm almost done, but I want to add some more reflections of the sky. I add a little chalk is white artist in the area adjacent to the sky and rub with a soft cotton cloth. If you scroll back to the top, you can see the effect of subtle glare with chalk.
